Cleaning Methods:

Ionic cleaners are our preferred way to deep clean rosaries. Ionic cleaners are safe for gold, gold-filled, sterling, bronze, and plated metals. They safely remove tarnish and restore shine without damaging gemstone beads and pearls.

Polishing cloths are another great way to keep your rosary’s metal shiny, clean, and tarnish-free. The polishing cloth we include in each rosary order can be used on all metal types. Don’t worry if the cloth turns black or gray with use; this means that it’s removing tarnish! Washing the cloth will remove the cleaning agent and reduce its ability to remove tarnish, so if you wear out the cloth, replace it with a new one.

Storage:

To prevent metal tarnish and preserve your rosary, store it in the rosary pouch included with all our rosary orders. A rosary or jewelry box also works well to prevent tarnish.

Store your rosary in a pouch or small container when not in use - this prevents tarnish.

Clean your rosary routinely to keep it looking new!

Things to Avoid:

Liquid tarnish removers - these harsh cleaners can damage gemstone beads and will damage non-sterling metals.

Soap - this creates buildup on metal and beads and leaves them looking dull.

Hanging your rosary on a rearview mirror - the motion from a moving car will wear down the metal, and sunlight exposure can damage and fade gemstone beads.

Leaving sterling or bronze rosaries exposed to air when not in use - they’ll tarnish faster.

Neglecting to clean your rosary - tarnish can build up and beads can look dull without routine cleaning.
